Right, I used a rag to block off rear of muffler. And was careful not to put too much coating fluid in. You sure don't want to get this stuff in the back of the muffler where the packing is. It will fill and block the perferations in this areas if you're not careful. Tip the muffler at an angle pour it in slowly while turning the muffler it to coat it. Then drain all excess back out. This stuff was messy, so read directions well. Also I made sure it didn't coat joint area. Hope its worthwhile for you. My bike shop defintely recommended doing this.
